What You Can Ask For

Readers in the UK and EU have GDPR rights; readers in California and other US states have comparable rights under CCPA/CPRA and similar statutes. In practice this means you can ask to see, correct, delete, or export your data, object to certain processing, and opt out of sale or sharing for advertising. We honour Global Privacy Control. Security and Retention

Anything we hold has a limited life: it is kept while needed for the purpose it was collected for, then removed or allowed to expire. We use access controls and encryption in transit, and take reasonable steps overall, while being clear that no method of transmission or storage is entirely secure.

Minors

This is not a children’s site. It is not directed to under-13s (or under-16s where that threshold applies), no data is knowingly collected from them, and any that arrives is deleted once identified.

Service Providers

We rely on third parties for infrastructure and measurement: a host, a content-delivery layer, potentially an analytics provider, an email service for the newsletter, and advertising partners where advertising is served. Some are processors acting on our instruction; some, particularly advertising and analytics vendors, act as independent controllers under their own terms.

How We Use It

We use what we hold to operate the site, to see in aggregate what readers interested in Eventwalks find useful, to send subscribed email, and to enable advertising where it appears.

What This Site Records

We may record the usual technical details of a visit (IP address, device, browser, referrer, pages requested) together with anything you volunteer: your email address if you subscribe, and the name and address attached to any comment you post.
Given what we write about, this is worth being explicit about: we ask readers not to send us sensitive personal details, and we delete rather than retain anything of that kind that reaches us unprompted.

Email Preferences

Nobody joins the list without confirming from their own inbox. Once on it, you can leave via the unsubscribe link in any email, and we include our postal address in every send as the law requires. The list is not sold or shared.
